Idle Format

Cookie Policy

Effective date: 12 October 2026

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to keep, and which your browser sends back each time you return, so the site can recognise the same visitor across pages or visits. Similar technologies do the same job by other means: browser storage areas that hold data on your computer, tiny image requests used to record that a page was opened, and techniques that assemble a recognisable signature out of your browser's settings.

What we checked

This is the complete list of technologies considered for idleformat.online, and what each one does here.

Cookies set by this site
Not used. idleformat.online sets no cookies of any kind, including functional or preference cookies.
Cookies set by others through this site
Not used. No third party is given the opportunity, because no third-party content is loaded on any page.
localStorage
Not used. Nothing is written to it, which is why the checklists cannot remember a tick.
sessionStorage
Not used. Nothing is carried from one page to the next.
IndexedDB
Not used. No database is created in your browser.
Tracking pixels
Not used. There are no image files at all on this site; every illustration is drawn with inline SVG or CSS.
Browser fingerprinting
Not used. Nothing on the site reads your fonts, screen, plugins, canvas or device characteristics to build an identifier.
Web fonts and third-party scripts
Not used. Type comes from font families already on your device, and the only script is a short first-party file on this domain that opens the small-screen menu and sends the checklists page to the printer.
Server access logs
Used. Our hosting provider records each request to the server, as described below.

Why there is no banner

Consent banners exist so that you can refuse things that would otherwise be placed on your device. Nothing is placed on your device here, so there is nothing to agree to, and a banner asking you to accept cookies on a site that sets none would be a false statement dressed as a courtesy. The absence of the banner is the honest version of the banner.

What does happen instead

Every web server records the requests it receives. Our hosting provider keeps an ordinary access log for this site containing the IP address, the date and time, the URL requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the user-agent string. Those entries are kept for 30 days and used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults. They are not combined with anything else, not used to recognise a returning visitor, and not shared for marketing. The Privacy Policy sets out the same arrangement in full.

That is the entirety of it: no analytics package, no advertising tag, no social or video embed, no session identifier, no scroll measurement.

The checklists do not remember anything

The boxes on the step pages and on the checklists page are drawn with a line of stylesheet. They are not form controls and they hold no state. Closing the page loses nothing, because nothing was kept: no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB, no fingerprinting and no pixel. If you want to keep a record of your progress, print the page and use a pen.

After you follow an affiliate link

Some pages link to the website of World of Warships. That link leaves this domain. Once you are on the destination site, it and the affiliate network that operates the link may set cookies or use similar technologies on their own domains, typically to record that the referral came from here. Montej group and compani s.r.o. does not control those, cannot see them, and cannot switch them off for you. Their own cookie and privacy notices describe what they do, and reading them on arrival is a reasonable habit.

Blocking or clearing cookies generally

Nothing here requires you to change a browser setting, but the controls are worth knowing. Every major browser keeps them in its settings menu under a heading such as Privacy, Privacy and security, or Site settings. From there you can normally clear cookies and site data for all sites or one site, block third-party cookies, block all cookies, or have everything cleared when you close the browser; private windows discard both automatically. Blocking cookies everywhere will break sites that rely on them to keep you signed in — it will not affect this one.

If this ever changes

We do not intend to introduce cookies. If that ever changed, this page would be rewritten and published with a new effective date before the first cookie was set, and a working consent mechanism would be in place from the beginning — one where refusing is as easy as agreeing and refusing actually prevents the cookie. We would not switch something on first and document it afterwards.
